1. Statutory quality warranty
South African consumer law provides an implied warranty that qualifying goods meet statutory quality standards. Within six months after delivery, defective or unsafe goods that fail those standards may be returned without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense, with repair, replacement or refund remedies as provided by the Consumer Protection Act.
2. Repair follow-up
If goods are repaired under the statutory remedy and the failure is not remedied, or a further qualifying failure is discovered within the applicable three-month period after repair, the CPA provides further replacement/refund rights.
3. Additional supplier/manufacturer warranty
An AutoSourceSA quote may state an additional supplier or manufacturer warranty, such as a number of months or kilometres. That express warranty is additional to statutory rights and should be read together with any written warranty conditions supplied with the part.
4. Part condition
New, aftermarket, used, rebuilt, reconditioned or remanufactured condition must be disclosed accurately. A used/reconditioned part can have different reasonable durability expectations from a new OEM part, but lawful consumer rights remain applicable to the condition that was disclosed and accepted.
5. Installation and diagnosis
Warranty assessment may consider whether the correct vehicle/part was identified, whether the underlying vehicle fault caused repeat damage, and whether installation, programming, lubrication, cooling, electrical or calibration procedures were carried out correctly. Evidence may be requested from a workshop or technician where reasonable.
6. Misuse, alteration and external causes
A warranty claim may be affected where the failure was caused by misuse, abuse, accident, contamination, incorrect installation, unauthorised modification or another external cause after supply. These considerations cannot be used to exclude statutory rights where the alleged cause is unrelated to the actual defect.
7. Labour and consequential costs
Unless an AutoSourceSA offer expressly includes labour or another consequential cost, the commercial part warranty may be limited to the part itself. This clause does not exclude any damages or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
8. Starting a claim
Contact info@autosourcesa.com with the order number, vehicle details, installation date/mileage where relevant, fault description, diagnostic findings, photographs and installer details. AutoSourceSA will coordinate the supplier assessment and communicate the decision and remedy.
